How has crime changed in Vermont since 1985?

Police in Vermont reported about 220 violent crimes per 100,000 people in 2025 (U.S.: 329), down from a high of 227 in 2024, and 1,446 property crimes in 2025 (U.S.: 1,552), down from a high of 6,232 in 1996. There's no figure for 1993 and 1997, when police departments covering fewer than 3 in 4 of its people reported a full year. Rates count only the agencies that reported.
