Which states have the most property crime?
In 2025 the District of Columbia had the highest property crime rate, about 3,178 burglaries, thefts, car thefts and arsons per 100,000 people, followed by New Mexico (2,351) and Colorado (2,235). Idaho (624) and New Hampshire (829) had the lowest; the U.S. rate was about 1,552. Rates count only the police agencies that reported to the FBI; in a few states, such as Florida and Mississippi, those cover only about 80 to 85% of residents.
