How has crime changed in Florida since 1985?

Police in Florida reported about 248 violent crimes per 100,000 people in 2025 (U.S.: 329), down from a high of 1,270 in 1990, and 1,077 property crimes in 2025 (U.S.: 1,552), down from a high of 7,719 in 1989. There's no figure for 1988, 1996 and 2021, when police departments covering fewer than 3 in 4 of its people reported a full year. Rates count only the agencies that reported.
