How has crime changed in Montana since 1985?

Police in Montana reported about 422 violent crimes per 100,000 people in 2025 (U.S.: 329), down from a high of 489 in 2020, and 1,468 property crimes in 2025 (U.S.: 1,552), down from a high of 4,411 in 1986.
