How has crime changed in Ohio since 1985?

Police in Ohio reported about 288 violent crimes per 100,000 people in 2025 (U.S.: 329), down from a high of 639 in 1991, and 1,471 property crimes in 2025 (U.S.: 1,552), down from a high of 4,888 in 1991. There's no figure for 1993, 1995–1997 and 1999–2000, when police departments covering fewer than 3 in 4 of its people reported a full year. Rates count only the agencies that reported.
