SM Fish Corp., of Far Rockaway, NY, recalled OSSIE'S PICKLED LOX DAIRY and 18 other products. The FDA's reason: “The products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes based on the findings of the bacteria in the plant via FDA environmental sampling plus the district's inspectional...” The FDA classified it Class I: it could cause serious harm or death. The company began the recall voluntarily on September 15, 2016, and the FDA first listed it in its Enforcement Report of November 2, 2016. The FDA has closed the recall: it found the company did all it reasonably could to remove or correct the product.
