How much of US electricity comes from solar?

Solar made 6.7% of US electricity in 2025, up from 0.6% in 2015 and 2.2% in 2020; before 2012 it was under a tenth of a percent. The chart counts only utility-scale solar plants, not rooftop panels, and the 2025 figures are preliminary.
