The FDA's reason: “Listeria monocytogenes found on food contact surfaces and non-food contact surfaces.” The FDA classified it Class I: it could cause serious harm or death. The company began the recall voluntarily on May 21, 2017, and the FDA first listed it in its Enforcement Report of August 2, 2017.
