Sargento Foods, Inc., of Plymouth, WI, recalled Sargento Ultra Thin Sliced Longhorn Colby and 16 other products. The FDA's reason: “Sargento Foods Inc. was notified by their supplier that the cheese that was supplied may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.” The FDA classified it Class I: it could cause serious harm or death. The company began the recall voluntarily on February 10, 2017, and the FDA first listed it in its Enforcement Report of March 29, 2017. The FDA has closed the recall: it found the company did all it reasonably could to remove or correct the product.
