The National Cancer Institute spent the most of NIH's institutes and centers in fiscal 2025, $6.6 billion of the $42.2 billion in research projects, followed by the allergy and infectious diseases institute ($5.7 billion) and the National Institute on Aging ($4.2 billion). When institutes share a project, each is counted for its part.
