How often do NFL teams try 50-yard field goals?
NFL games had 0.98 field goal tries of 50 yards or longer each in the 2025 regular season, both teams together, nearly three times 1999's 0.34. Counting per game means the switch from 16 to 17 games a team in 2021 doesn't inflate it. The chart starts in 1999, the first season in nflverse's data.
