Which states have the most burglaries?
The interactive chart needs JavaScript. The numbers are on the chart's page.
In 2025 New Mexico had the highest burglary rate, about 415 per 100,000 people, followed by Oklahoma (368), Washington (319) and Nevada (318). New Hampshire (52), Maine (80) and Connecticut (82) had the lowest; the U.S. rate was about 195. Rates count only the police agencies that reported to the FBI; in 2025 those covered only about 80 to 85% of residents in a few states, such as Florida and Mississippi. Since 2021, when the FBI began taking only its newer NIBRS reports, state rates don't line up exactly with earlier years.
